Moving Data to the Cloud (What Could Possibly Go Wrong?)
Session
Satellitdata I: Copernicus Landtjenesten
Abstract
Data migration is an opportunity to rethink, improve, and future-proof. The Copernicus Land Monitoring Service (CLMS) portfolio is being moved to the Copernicus Data Space Ecosystem (CDSE), bringing together data from multiple on-premise and cloud environments. The vision was clear, but the process proved complex. Differences in naming conventions, varying metadata approaches across products, and legacy structures made standardisation challenging. At the same time, selecting suitable cloud-optimised data formats was key to ensuring performance and usability.
This talk shares practical experiences, key challenges, and lessons learned. It is aimed at organisations facing similar migrations and offers concrete insights into what to consider when moving to cloud-based environments.
Målgruppe
The target group for the presentation is all participants at Kortdage 2026, who is employed by public authorities, are geospatial professionals, or coming from organisations working with data migration and cloud solutions.
