Abstract

Climate change has profound impacts on the global water cycle following temperature records and leading to intensified extreme events such as floods and droughts. Improving predictions of extreme hydrometeorological events is essential for reaching sustainable development goals under climate change. Thus, the Earth system science community puts strong efforts into monitoring, understanding, simulating, and anticipating the geophysical dynamics of our planet.

In this presentation, we will dive into how geodetic and remote sensing satellite observations can help large-scale hydrological models to monitor and analyze the impact of climate change on water resources and infrastructure. Particularly, we will address how methodological advancements in data-model fusion and physics-guided AI help reliable predictions of these dynamics.
